I originally rated this as an excellent 5 star and still think that the service itself is honest and trustworthy. My only concern about Mike is how he schedules his work.
Just went there for the first time and couldn't be happier. great people, good prices, no B.S. Hard to find auto places like this. Would highly recommend!
You need to drop your car off... leave it there. Mike is super busy, most excellent mechanics are... so u will have to earn your way up the guest list... appointments? Come on man? What the hell?
I've been going to Genesee Automotive for almost 7 years now. I know the term "trustworthy mechanic" is something most people snicker at but Mike and his mechanics (no not the 80's band!) are exactly that. Skilled, knowledgeable and more than anything, honest!
I have been going here since about 1996! every vehicle I have had I take to Mike for service, he is the ABSOLUTE BEST! Honest and fair, not something he see nowadays. I have referred at least 3 ppl who now go nowhere else. I can't say enough good about this shop. If you need service GO TO GENESSEE AUTOMOTIVE
So again, when it comes to car service, he certainly knows what he's doing. But doesn't use a scheduling system. That's why it went from a 5-star rating to a 3-star rating for me.
No doubt that he is an honest guy and knows what he's doing. He does excellent work and tells you what's really going on with your car and the repairs he made. But having been there a couple of times, I experienced having my whole day booked out because he doesn't know when he will be finished with the car. This is because he doesn't use a schedule/appointment system.
It took me several years to find a trustworthy mechanic in Buffalo. There's lots of unscrupulous people in the industry. Mike @ Genesee reminds me of an uncle who took care of my automotive needs back home. He's friendly, honest, super knowledgeable, and efficient. He remembers your name and never talks down to you. People like Mike represent the best of Buffalo. He's worked on my Toyota Yaris, Honda Element, BMW 323i, Chevy Malibu and our Ford E-250 work van.
When no one else could fix my car, Mike had it up and running in a day. He always manages to fit me in and takes the very best care of my poor old car. My crazy little sunfire lives on another day thanks to these guys!
I always call and ask for an appointment because that is what I was accustomed to but with Mike, even if you call, you go there and you don't know when your car will be serviced. The first couple of times I've been there, he told me that it would take him 3-4 hours because he still has other cars to repair (even if I called in prior and went there at the appointed time). The last time I've been there, I wasn't even accommodated at all. I called two days prior and spoke to him about scheduling an oil change and tire rotation. He agreed and told me to come in the morning. When I went there a few minutes before my schedule, he told me that he cannot accommodate me because they were really busy that day.
